Docs to Design is run by Kalaivanan V ("we", "us"). This policy covers the website at docstodesign.in and the Docs to Design plugin.
The short version
- PDFs are processed on your computer and never uploaded. We do not receive the file, its name, its text, its images or its password.
- We keep your account details and a record of each import.
- We do not sell your data and we do not use advertising trackers.
What we collect
Account details
When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture. We do not receive your Google password or anything else from your Google account.
Figma details
When you connect the plugin we receive your Figma user ID and name. The name is shown on your account page, so you can recognise your own connections. We use the ID to help prevent abuse of the free imports.
Import records
For each import we record when it started and finished, how many pages it covered, whether it succeeded, how long it took, how many layers and frames it created, and what share of the content was rendered as images. Pages imported from one PDF share a random run number, so your dashboard can show them as one line. Imports made without an account are not recorded: nothing about them is sent to us.
We never receive or store the PDF you import, its file name, its metadata, its text, its images or its password, or the design it produces. The layers you import, including any page renders kept for comparison, are saved in your Figma file like anything else you create, under Figma's own terms.
Data files the plugin downloads
Some PDFs need extra data files to show their fonts correctly, such as standard fonts and character maps for Chinese, Japanese and Korean text. The plugin downloads these for pdf.js when a PDF needs them: from a public content delivery network today, and from this site later. The request says which data file is needed, never anything about your PDF.
Messages you send us
If you contact support or report an issue, we keep your message, any files you attach, and the technical details sent with a report, such as the plugin version and the import report you choose to copy. An import report holds counts and font names, not your text.
Technical data
Our servers record the IP address, browser type and the pages requested, as web servers do. We use this to keep the service secure and working. When the plugin starts signing in, we also keep a scrambled form of your network address for about 20 minutes, to limit how many sign-ins one network can start.
Cookies and measurement
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in, and one that tells our pages you are signed in. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies, and no third-party trackers.
How we use it
- To run your account and count your imports.
- To prevent abuse, such as creating many accounts to get more free imports.
- To answer your questions and fix problems.
- To understand how the product is used and improve it.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the companies that help us run the service, and only what each one needs:
- Google, for sign-in.
- Supabase, which stores our database and runs sign-in.
- Our website hosting and email providers.
We may also share data when the law requires it. We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
Where it is kept
These providers may store data on servers outside your country, including outside India.
How long we keep it
We keep your account details and import records while your account is open. Records of imports that failed are removed after 30 days. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your data, except records we must keep by law. We keep a note that the account was deleted, with the email address shortened (for example “ka•••@gmail.com”).
Your choices
You can ask us to:
- show you the personal data we hold about you,
- correct data that is wrong,
- delete your account and its data, and
- answer a complaint about how we handled your data.
Write to support@docstodesign.in from the email address of your account. If you are in India and are not satisfied with our answer, you may have the right to complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
Docs to Design is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Security
We use encrypted connections, keep access to the data limited, and rely on established providers for sign-in. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that nothing will ever go wrong.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update this page and its date. If a change is important, we will also tell you by email or in the plugin.
